Kia orana! Cook Island Language Week

Blockhouse Bay Primary School - Kia orana! Cook Island Language Week

This week we in Room 19, we celebrated Cook Island Language week through learning some phrases from the beautiful Cook Island language like meitaki (thank you) and kia orana (hello).

We also made leis for people we love and after learning a poem called 'Nannny weaves' we weaved our own patterns out of colored paper - Check out our woven artworks in our classroom window!

Although no one in Room 19 is from the Cook Islands, we have been enjoying embracing a different culture and learning about what makes them special.
