This week we have been learning our school whakatauki (proverb) and what this means to us as the fledgings (little birds) of our school:
Ka tae mai he manu pi, ka puta he manu rere
Arrive a fledging, leave soaring
We made up actions to help us remember our whakatauki and were then inspired by an awesome birds nest from Miss Lala's class. First we talked about what kinds of things birds use to make their nests then all had a turn to gently hold and look at the nest. We then went on a hunt and gathered materials from the glade to make our own fledging's nest. After that, we took turns gluing everything together. Some of the children even took pictures of this process with Mrs Hodgman's camera.
