Room 4 and our buddy class Room 20 walked up Te Pane O Mataoho (Mangere Mountain). We found out lots of information about the third crater and how it was quarried and made into a bowling green. We saw a bunny burrow and we saw a lava dome. Back in pre European times, the Medicine Man did his work at the top of the lava dome. It is tapu (sacred) up there because lots of blood was dropped back into Papatuanuku (Earth Mother). It was epic going all the way back down the hill, we ran with no teacher by ourselves. We saw piwakawaka (fantails) and tui. Back at the center we saw lots of lava rocks and saw old garden tools that the Maori people used that were found on the mountain.
