In Room 23, one of our most cherished learning experiences is when we have Shared Reading. Last week, we read a powerful story called "Emmanuel's Dream: The true story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah", an inspirational tale about a boy named Emmanuel and his life with one strong leg. As a class we unpacked what a disability was (A disability is an impairment that may be cognitive, developmental, intellectual, mental, physical, sensory, or some combination of these. It substantially affects a person's life activities and may be present from birth or occur during a person's lifetime). Emmanuel was born with this disability.
One day, we even tried to learn and spent most of the day hopping around on one strong leg to truly understand how Emmanuel's life was... We know now to never give up when things get tough because Emmanuel didn't. He was really inspirational!
