In these upcoming holidays, eight of our students will be putting the Mandarin they have learnt at school to good use as they fly to China to take part in a cultural exchange. The group, which has been nicknamed The Great Eight, is made up of year 5 and 6 students and they will get to visit Shanghai’s popular sights, experience living locally with Chinese homestays, and attend classes at our sister school in Yuyao, Ningbo. The students will be accompanied by Mrs Adlington and Mrs Casse, and Mr Robinson will also be meeting up with them as he’ll be attending a principals’ conference nearby.
We’ve also been lucky to receive funding from The New Zealand-China Sister Schools Fund which helps schools like ours provide the opportunity for students to gain an international experience, something we know will certainly help them in their future.
Look out for updates early next term to see how the exchange went as this might be something you could be part of, next time round!
